Rain Causes Devastation at Crosskennan

28 June 2012

Friday was one of the worst days in recent years as far as wet weather goes. Crosskennan volunteers had to deal with flooding both inside and outside the barn.

Many ponies and horses had to be moved out and spent the evening running loose round the sanctuary with their warm winter coats on them.  We want to say a thank you to everyone who helped clear the water and spent many hours making sure the animals were cared for despite being cold and wet themselves! Without their help we could not have managed.

We lost hundreds of pounds worth of shavings and straw and many hundreds more as we were unable to use the barn for paying groups.

We need help to dig a drainage system in the fields above the barn to prevent this happening again.  This help could be financial or the use of a digger or volunteer labour.

If you can help us please call 028 94465384 or email Crosskennan@hotmail.co.uk
