CLAS LAUNCHES ITS ANNUAL SWEET ITCH APPEAL

18 June 2012

It is hoped that £1,000 can be raised to buy sweet itch rugs and treatments. We have always had a number of horses and ponies that suffer from the condition for who we have used preventative measures as well as sweet itch rugs and lotions.

Now we have discovered that quite a few of the animals rescued over the winter months will also need rugs and applications to alleviate their symptoms.

Sweet Itch is an allergic reaction to midge bites. The affected horse will suffer from intense itching. The itchy area will be sore and scabby, with little hair on it. The most commonly affected areas are the mane, top of the tail and across the withers. Broken skin is open to infection if it is not treated.

If you would like to donate to our Sweet Itch Appeal, you can make a donation by cheque made payable to CLAS or press the donate button on our facebook page or website.
You can also make a text donation by texting CLAS12, followed by the amount of the donation, to 70070.

Thank you for your help and support for our rescued animals.
